MetroStars launch winter regional development schools

As the MetroStars continue their push for MLS Cup 2005, the team continues their heavy focus on the youth soccer community with the launch of its off-season winter Development Schools.

The MetroStars announced today partnerships with four top indoor facilities to offer Winter Development Schools: Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, NY, The Center Circle in Rahway, NJ, Central Jersey Indoor Sports in Flemington, NJ, and CT Sports Complex in New Milford, CT.

The winter season kicks off late November and offers 16 weeks of high-level intensive training. Three sessions are offered, each focusing on a different range of technical and tactical skills.

The Schools are limited to competitive and elite level boys and girls, ages 8 to 14, and each group is strictly limited to 12 players.

"Offseason training is a vital part of a player year-round development," said MetroStars Director of Soccer and Youth Development Programs, Giovanni Savarese. "Players attending the course will progress through a focused curriculum that has been designed to develop specific technical aspects of the game."

As an added bonus, the MetroStars Regional Development Schools also serve as a means to identify players for potential opportunities with the MetroStars Academy teams. The best players identified within each age group will earn an invitation to play on a MetroStars Development School tournament team.
