MetroStars to host Ukrainian Day at Giants Stadium on Sept. 17

SECAUCUS, N.J. - The MetroStars announced that this Saturday, September 17 will be Ukrainian Day at Giants Stadium. The Ukrainian Day Festival will begin at noon and will include singing, dancing, music, and Ukrainian food culminating with the MetroStars match against the New England Revolution at 7:30 p.m. ET.


Current WBC Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko and Olympic and World Champion Women's Figure Skater, Oksana Baiul will be the featured guests at Ukrainian Day. Klitschko and Baiul will partake in the pregame festivities, sign autographs and kick the opening ball before the MetroStars match.


Prior to the MetroStars match, the MetroStars Academy Team and the Ukrainian-American All Stars will meet in a friendly match beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET on the field at Giants Stadium.


The MetroStars are proud to offer children the chance to participate in the on-field festivities during the pregame ceremonies of the first team match. It is the MetroStars goal to feature hundreds of Ukrainian children dressed in orange representing the peaceful resolutions and independent spirit of the Ukraine people. Each child will be given a free orange t-shirt with the Ukrainian work "TAK" ("YES!") printed on the front as a keepsake.
