MetroStars announce public on-sale date for Chelsea vs. Milan match

SECAUCUS, N.J. - The MetroStars announced today that tickets to the 3:00 p.m. ET July 31 match between Chelsea F.C. and A.C. Milan will go on sale to the general public on Monday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. Tickets will be available online at or through Ticketmaster. Need a place to stay?

A.C. Milan and Chelsea will travel to the United States to play in the 2005 World Series of Football in late July. In the World Series of Football tour, there will be four matches played. Chelsea F.C. and A.C. Milan will play each other twice on July 24 and July 31. A.C. Milan will play three-time Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champion Chicago Fire on Wednesday, July 27 and Chelsea F.C. will face reigning MLS Cup Champion D.C. United on Thursday, July 28. The 2005 World Series of Football culminates on July 31 when Chelsea F.C. battles A.C. Milan at Giants Stadium. Please note that the kickoff time of the July 31 match will be at 3:00 p.m. ET.

The prices of individual Chelsea F.C.-A.C. Milan tickets are the following:

$80 - Platinum

$65 - Gold

$50 - Silver

$40 - Bronze and Upper Tier

The MetroStars are also offering a special "World Series of Football Pick 'Em Pack," which includes one ticket to the Chelsea F.C.-A.C. Milan match as well as one Platinum level ticket to a remaining MetroStars home game of your choice at a discounted rate.

In anticipation of their celebration of their 100th year, Chelsea F.C. won the 2005 English Premiership with 95 points on the campaign, posting a record of 28 wins, eight ties and only one loss during the regular season. The 2005 crown was Chelsea's first League title in 50 years, having last claimed the honors in 1955. A six-time European Champion, A.C. Milan is owned by Fininvest, the holding company of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, and managed by Carlo Ancelotti. In 106 years of existence, the storied franchise has won 17 Serie A titles, most recently winning the 2004 League title. The Italian superpower finished second in the 2005 Champion's League, falling to Liverpool in penalty kicks after tying 3-3 during regulation this past May. Milan also has a star-studded international lineup featuring Italian national team standouts Paolo Maldini (D), Alessandero Nesta (D), Alessandro Costacurta (D), Filippo Inzaghi (F), and Andrea Pirlo (M), Brazil's Dida (GK), Kaká (F), and Cafu (D), Holland's Jaap Stam (D) and Clarence Seedorf (M), and the current holder of the Golden Ball as the 2004 European Most Valuable Player, Ukraine's Andriy Shevchenko.
