Metros' Walker named to US team

MetroStars goalkeeper Jonny Walker was named to the U.S. National Team roster for their friendly against Honduras on June 2 in Foxboro, Mass., by U.S. Men's national team manager Bruce Arena. Walker replaces Brad Friedel, who is rehabilitating a quadriceps injury suffered in early May. Friedel's recovery is expected to take 2-4 weeks.

Walker, 29, earned his first three caps for the senior team earlier this year, posting a 1-0-2 record. After opening with a 1-1 draw against Denmark on Jan. 18 at the Home Depot Center, Walker became the fourth U.S. goalkeeper in history to record a shutout in their first appearance against Mexico with the 1-0 blanking of "El Tri" on April 28 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

Walker will join former Metros goalkeeper Tim Howard on the U.S. Roster.

Kickoff for the June 2 friendly is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the match will be broadcast on Telemundo via tape delay (11:30 p.m. ET/PT). The U.S. game will also be available live in high definition format on HDNet. Fans can also follow the match live on ussoccer.com's MatchTracker, presented by Philips Electronics. The friendly will serve as the USA's final warm-up before 2006 World Cup qualifying kicks off June 13 against Grenada in Columbus.
