L.A. Galaxy continue to collect donations for hurricane relief effort

CARSON, Calif. - The Los Angeles Galaxy continue to aid Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by collecting donations this Saturday, September 10, against the Colorado Rapids at The Home Depot Center on the campus of Cal State University, Dominguez Hills. Fans who make a donation of ten dollars ($10) or more to the relief effort of Hurricane Katrina will receive two (2) free tickets to the Galaxy's U.S. Open Cup Semifinal match against the Minnesota Thunder on Wednesday, September 14. Donations can be made beginning on Saturday at the game at the Galaxy Foundation booth and will continue through Tuesday, September 13 at the front desk of the Home Depot Center.


Donations will also continue to be collected at the Galaxy's other MLS home game on Sunday, September 25 (vs. Kansas City Wizards) at The Home Depot Center.


The Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation and The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation have partnered with the Greater Long Beach chapter of the American Red Cross to collect these donations. To launch the extensive fundraising campaign, the Galaxy Foundation made a contribution in the amount of $5,000 to the cause. In addition, AEG and The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation have stepped up to give $2,500 a piece for the relief efforts.

Also, several Galaxy players have their autographed game-worn jerseys from last week's game currently up for auction on www.MLSnet.com with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Red Cross to provide help in Louisiana and Mississippi. The players are: Todd Dunivant, Herculez Gomez, Kevin Hartman, Cobi Jones, Jovan Kirovski, Tyrone Marshall and Peter Vagenas. The auction will conclude Monday, September 12 at 9 am PT.
