Johnson's double spells trouble for L.A.

Cory Gibbs and the Burn defense kept the Galaxy scoreless Saturday night.

also unmarked -- on the right side of the goal area and he coolly slotted the ball under the sliding Hartman.

The Galaxy tried to find ways to cut into the Burn's lead as the home side shifted their focus to protecting the lead in the second half. Two minutes into the second half, it appeared as if the Galaxy might halve their deficit when Burn Steve Jolley's poor attempt at settling a Cobi Jones cross gave Galaxy forward Joseph Ngwenya the ball on the doorstep, but Ngwenya mis-hit his shot, and Burn 'keeper Jeff Cassar knocked the ball out for a corner.

Late in the game, with the result all but decided, Johnson had his sights set on a hat trick and tried to beat Hartman to the near post after blazing down the left flank with the ball. Hartman denied Johnson's effort though, covering his post as he slid out and blocked the shot.

The Galaxy are on the road again in one week's time, as they take on the San Jose Earthquakes next Saturday at Spartan Stadium (10 p.m. ET; FSW/FSE, HDNet). The Burn, meanwhile, remain at home to face the MetroStars (8:30 p.m. ET).
