Gaven: We have to get back on track

Eddie Gaven and the Metros are looking for a win in Dallas.

Hey there. This week has flown by. The team has been training hard so we don't let ourselves down again this weekend in Dallas. We had such a great opportunity last weekend that slipped away. We are very lucky that we have the same chance to clinch a playoff spot this weekend.

Saturday's loss against the Columbus Crew was tough. We had the lead twice in the match and could not hold on to it. With a win, we could have jumped back into first place and clinched a playoff spot, however the Crew had other plans. I was happy to score, but I would have been happier if we won. It does not matter to me who scores as long as we win and I do my best to contribute, that's all I care about.

This week in training we are focusing on our upcoming match against the Burn in Dallas. We have been working hard to tighten up on defense because giving four goals up to Edson Buddle was not good. We also know we need to have a better mindset and play harder for us to get a positive result this weekend.

The Burn are a tough team and they have some great players including Eddie Johnson and Ronnie O'Brien. We have not played our best soccer against them this year, so hopefully that will change on Saturday. We just have to get back on track and with that we will be successful.

The locker room has become a bit more focused lately. We have not really been playing basketball or wiffleball; rather we are gearing up for the playoffs. The team has been watching films and discussing amongst ourselves how important the next few games are. Our ultimate goal this season is to win MLS Cup and I think we have a team that can complete that goal.

Well guys, I have to get back on the field. Send me some questions to MetroFan@metrostars.com. Hopefully the next time I write, we will be playoff bound!

Take care and God Bless,
