Gallucci named head athletic trainer of MetroStars

John Gallucci

SECAUCUS, N.J. - The MetroStars announced today that they have named John Gallucci head athletic trainer after previously serving the last six years as an athletic trainer for the club.

He replaces Stu Schwerner who has moved on to the position of head athletic trainer at Northern Regional Valley HS at Old Tappan, overseeing all athletes. Schwerner spent eight seasons with the MetroStars.

"I am extremely excited to be a part of the MetroStars medical staff," said Gallucci, who is also the President/Founder of JAG Physical Therapy. "The past six seasons as the athletic trainer have given me the experience to take on this new position of head athletic trainer. I have the confidence to continue with the same quality of care set by Stu Schwerner."

Gallucci has been the sports medicine consultant for many local and national athletic clubs and teams, most recently the former New Jersey Gladiators of Arena Football.

A native of Staten Island, Gallucci received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the College of Staten Island in 1990, and a master's degree in Athletic Training and Sports Science from Long Island University in 1993. He received his second master's degree in Physical Therapy from Dominican College in 2004.
