L.A. GALAXY COACHES, PLAYERS TRAVEL TO WASHINGTON, D.C. FOR 2004 SIERRA MIST MLS ALL-STAR GAME
The Los Angeles Galaxy's coaching staff and six players representing the club will leave for Washington, D.C. this week to participate in the 2004 Sierra Mist All-Star Game. The game will be held at RFK Stadium on Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m. (PT). Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid will direct the Western Conference All-Stars with help from his assistants Martin Vasquez and Zak Abdel. In addition, defender Chris Albright, midfielder Andreas Herzog and forward Carlos Ruiz will all start for the Western Conference squad, while goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and forward Jovan Kirovski will both be coming off the bench for the West side. Finally, defender Danny Califf, who was selected but will not be able to take part in the festivities due to injury, will also be making the trip.
The League's midsummer showcase will be televised live on ABC Sports (Channel 7) and will also be broadcast live In Spanish throughout the Southland on Galaxy radio partner KMXE 830 AM - with Troy Santiago calling all the action.
CLUB TO BE WELL-REPRESENTED IN ALL-STAR REUNION GAME AS WELL:
The 2004 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Weekend Reunion Game, to be held prior to Saturday's main event and matching superstars from the league's first nine seasons, will also have a distinctive Galaxy flair. Current assistant coach Martin Vasquez and midfielder Cobi Jones will both be playing for the USA legends squad, while former Galaxy players Jorge Campos, Mauricio Cienfuegos and Carlos Hermosillo will represent the World Legends.
GALAXY RETURN TO ACTION ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 8 AT THE METROSTARS:
The Los Angeles Galaxy (9-5-6, 33 pts - 1st West) do not return to MLS regular season action until Sunday, August 8 against the MetroStars (7-6-5, 26 pts - 1st East) at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey at 3 p.m. (PT). The match will be televised live throughout Southern California live on KCAL 9, beginning with the Galaxy Countdown pre-game show at 2:30 p.m. Radio listeners will also have a chance to hear all the action as it unfolds in two languages on KMPC 1540 AM (English) and KMXE 830 AM (Spanish).
NEXT GALAXY HOME GAME SLATED FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 14 AGAINST COLUMBUS CREW:
After concluding a month-long, four-game road trip, the Galaxy will return to the friendly confines of The Home Depot Center for a contest against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, August 14 at 7 pm. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a Galaxy jersey key ring courtesy of Proctor & Gamble and a Kohl's cheer card. GALAXY STORM BACK TO EARN 2-2 TIE IN KANSAS CITY; MAINTAIN WESTERN CONFERENCE LEAD:
In the matchup of the two top teams in Major League Soccer, the Los Angeles Galaxy scored a goal five minutes deep into second-half stoppage time and snatched a 2-2 draw on the road against the Kansas City Wizards on July 24 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Wizards had taken the lead with goals two minutes apart in the second half from Davy Arnaud and Jack Jewsbury, but the Galaxy began their fight back with a quick response through Sasha Victorine. Then almost as the five minutes of added time had run out, Tyrone Marshall rose up to head home an Andreas Herzog cross and keep the Galaxy in first place in the Western Conference, a point ahead of the Wizards.

Más Galaxy, the club's Spanish-Language radio talk show, which airs each Wednesday at 8 p.m. on KMXE 830 AM, will give fans an inside look at the 2004 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game this week.
