LOS ANGELES GALAXY 1, REAL SALT LAKE 0

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH STEVE SAMPSON

On goalkeeper Kevin Hartman reaching 100 wins:
"Tonight's story isn't about the return of Landon Donovan, or the three points. I really think the story tonight is all about this man to my right (Kevin Hartman). One hundred career wins, the first ever to do so as a goalkeeper. Over 50 percent of those are shutouts. I'm very proud of Kevin and everything he's accomplished and certainly the success of the Galaxy over the last 10 years in large part is due to Kevin Hartman. I was disappointed that he had to come up with a few saves at the end to keep the result. But he did, and again that shows his quality."

On Landon Donovan's return:
"Tonight, you saw a tired Landon Donovan. He chose his moments at the end of the game and he chose obviously a very good time. It was a great ball by Cobi (Jones) and a great goal. Once again, Landon, even as tired as he is, coming off 2 1/2 weeks with the national team, found a way to score a goal for us tonight."

On the team's performance tonight:
"I think a number of players were very tired, and I think you saw the results of that tonight. So, I'm happy to have them back. I think Pando Ramirez played well tonight and held the ball beautifully for us. I didn't expect him to bring as much energy as he did. The backline, in particular Tyrone (Marshall), (Pablo) Chinchilla, played an exceptional game tonight. With every game he (Chinchilla) seems to get more and more comfortable. So, not the best result because I though we could have put them away sooner, but I'm happy with the three points."

On the upcoming road trip:
"I think they all want to find a way to win on the road. Certainly that starts in Colorado for us on Wednesday, and I think that's achievable. We're not going to go into these games to play not to lose. We're going to stick with that mentality. How the game plays out, we'll see. Dallas is getting points on the road, and so do we, and that's our mentality. We need to stay close to Dallas, and then we have another shot at them next weekend. Three points would do well for us come Wednesday."

On Hartman's place among U.S. goalkeepers:
"In my opinion, I've seen all the goalkeepers, trained with them, brought them in with youth national teams or Olympic teams and trained with national teams, and I think this man to my right is the best shot-blocker in the country. I don't think there's anybody better."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY GOALKEEPER KEVIN HARTMAN

On being the first goalkeeper in MLS history to record 100 wins:
"I think that it shows longevity, it shows consistency, it shows being a part of great Galaxy squads. Even tonight, I should take Todd Dunivant out to dinner. He saved the ball off the line and really kept it intact there for us. There're a lot of coaches to thank and a lot of people to play with on my glove today. I kind of had a bunch of initials of guys I really appreciated what they taught me in soccer. Really, I just consider it an accolade that speaks volumes in terms of the greatness of players around me and the greatness of the organization and [head athletic trainer] Ivan [Pierra]'s ability to keep me out on the field. Also, I love to win. I think that you can see that desire in practice, you can see it in games, and that really carries over and really that that is a cumulative thing. When you group all those assets together, you get those 100 wins. I'm really ecstatic about it. When I look at goalkeepers, I look at people that have done it for a long time and done it at a high level. To be the first one to 100 is something I'm really proud of."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER PETER VAGENAS

On the overall performance:
"In the small picture, we wanted three points and we got three points. I don't think we played very well. I would give us probably an average mark in terms of the way we played. It's always good to get a shutout. That's important, but we definitely left room for improvement."

On Kevin Hartman's 100th win:
"I think 100 wins speaks for itself. There have been years where he's carried us, and there have been years like this year where he hasn't had much to do yet. He's definitely been our rock for the entirety part of my career. I think 100 wins is a great honor, especially coming at home."

On the upcoming road trip:
"We need to win the first one. That shortens our trip, gives us confidence and gets us going in the right direction. Wednesday is going to dictate the remainder of the trip. More importantly, I think at the end of this road trip we will really see where we stand in the league. It's going to be a type of make-or-break trip for our season. If we can come out of this trip on a positive note, I think we're obviously headed in the right direction. The most important thing is the first win, so Wednesday night we have to go into Colorado and get a result."

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER

On the team's overall performance:
"Today's a starting point. Effort-wise, I thought everyone stepped up and did what they had to do. I think Kenny (Cutler) and Jason (Kreis) did a good job of matching the work ethic of Pete (Vagenas) and (Paulo) Nagamura. Overall, that was a good thing. Matt Behncke stepped up and did the job he had to do. I'm not sure, but I think we may have lost Nelson, I have to check the (caution) points."

On playing the Galaxy competitively:
"We knew we were in the game. We've beaten them before. We beat them once, and when you beat somebody, it gets in their head a little bit. They had great chances. They had one or two chances at the beginning. At that point, you start believe you can pull this off. And then the one breakdown a few minutes into the second half. Just a lofted ball, Landon got behind and then that's it, it's off to the races."
