FSW, CSN broadcast pre-empted

The Fox Sports World and Comcast SportsNet broadcast coverage of tonight's D.C. United game versus the Colorado Rapids will not occur as scheduled. With last night's postponement of Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles-San Francisco Giants match-up, Comcast SportsNet is contractually obligated to air the re-scheduled game tonight, despite previous plans to show United's match. Without with the Comcast SportsNet feed of United's match, Fox Sports World is unable to broadcast the match and will instead carry the Kansas City Wizards at Columbs Crew match at 7:30 p.m. ET. D.C. United and Comcast SportsNet will jointly announce an additional future telecast in the coming days.

"We understand the rainout of the Orioles game placed Comcast SportsNet in a difficult situation and appreciate their attempts to secure production facilities that would have allowed tonight's United match to be aired as scheduled," said United president and CEO Kevin Payne. "Nonetheless, we're disappointed that United supporters will not be able to watch their team play tonight in favor of a baseball game."

This season marks the eighth year Comcast SportsNet and D.C. United have partnered to air D.C. United matches. The two organizations announced this season's 15-game broadcast schedule on March 15. Through the first four Comcast SportsNet broadcasts this season, the games have averaged a 1.5 rating in Washington and a .6 in Baltimore.
