Four Collin County communities to host benefit concert to raise $500,000 for local hurricane relief efforts

and help hurricane evacuees, who have relocated to Collin County.


        The Vocal Majority Chorus, America's Premier Pops Chorus, will headline the "Helping to Heal" benefit concert on Sunday, October 16 at Pizza Hut Park, which is located on the northeast corner of the North Dallas Parkway and F.M. 720/Main Street, in Frisco.  Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. </p>


        The "Helping to Heal" Benefit Concert will also feature high school choirs from Frisco, McKinney and Plano.  A jazz band, from Collin County Community College, will greet guests as they enter the new 20,000-seat stadium.  The concert will conclude with a fireworks finale. </p>


        Tickets are $10 for general admission and willbe available starting Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 214-373-8000 or 972-647-5700.  The convenience fee will be donated back to the event. Tickets will also be available through the school districts in Allen, Frisco, McKinney and Plano, beginning Monday, September 19. You can also purchase tickets at the Pizza Hut Park box office on the day of the concert, starting at 11 a.m.    </p>


        All proceeds from the concert, including sales from concessions and donations, will benefit The American Red Cross, as well as social service agencies throughout Collin County, which are assisting the cities of Allen, Frisco, Plano and McKinney with Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts.  </p>


        Those cities have selected the following agencies to share the proceeds:  Allen Community Outreach, Assistance Center of Collin County, Children's Medical Center, Frisco Family Services, God's Food Pantry, Interfaith Disaster Relief of Collin County, Plano Food Bank and the Samaritan Inn. </p>


        Chuck Brinkman, from 98.7 KLUV, and Macie Jepson, from WFAA TV-8, will emcee the benefit concert.</p>


        Onsite parking is free.  There will also be a free shuttle service from Memorial Stadium, Frisco High School and Warren Sports Complex.  </p>
