Series History vs. MetroStars
The Fire has dominated the series against the MetroStars by posting a 13-5-3 mark in regular season play against its Eastern Conference rival, which includes a 6-2-2 record and five-match undefeated streak (3-0-2) at home. Chicago's .690 winning percentage over the MetroStars is the second highest against active MLS clubs, ranking only behind its .750 winning clip against the Kansas City Wizards. The Fire and Metros contested the first of their four matches this season at Giants Stadium on Apr. 22, when the Fire took home its first road win in MLS play in nearly a year courtesy of a 1-0 victory on the strength of a Nate Jaqua tally in the 29th minute.

Barrett and John To Meet Teammate Johnson When U.S. and Canada U-20 Sides Face Off in Friendly
U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Sigi Schmid has included Fire forward Chad Barrett and midfielder Will John on the 24-man roster that will face Fire teammate and Woodridge native Will Johnson and the rest of the Canada Under-20 Men's National Team on Wednesday, May 18 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN. Kickoff for the match is 7:35 p.m. CT and fans can follow the match live on ussoccer.com's MatchTracker, presented by Philips Electronics. Barrett and John are two of seven MLS players called in by Schmid for the match, which will serve as preparation for the U.S. as the U-20s are less than a month away from competing in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, which will take place from June 10-July 2 in Holland. Both players will depart the Fire camp after the Fire Reserves' contest against their counterparts from the MetroStars on Sunday. Johnson, whose two goals in MLS Reserve Division play puts him in a tie atop the League's goal scoring chart alongside Barrett, left earlier in the week to join the Canadian U-20's two-week training camp, which also includes a friendly contest against Honduras tonight in New Orleans, LA.

What About Bob? Fire Plans Another Rude Welcome for Former Coach Bradley
The "Men in Red" have not been kind to their former boss Bob Bradley, as Chicago has posted a 5-1-3 record against the MetroStars since Bradley left the "Men in Red" for the "Red and Black" after the 2002 season. Bradley, who picked up 82 of his MLS career best 105 wins with the Fire from 1998-2002, has not fared well in his return visits to Chicagoland, as his MetroStars have taken only two out of a possible 12 points (0-2-2) in his four matches at Cardinal Stadium and Soldier Field.

Quick Kicks vs. MetroStars

  • Fire midfielder Jesse Marsch's two cautions against New England on Apr. 27 and May 7 gave him nine caution points in his last two games, putting him in danger this Saturday of eclipsing the 3-game/11-point threshold that will result in an automatic one game suspension from MLS.

  • Saturday's match against the MetroStars is the last of a five-game stretch against fellow Eastern Conference sides. Chicago has a 2-2-1 record against the East this season and is 66-35-18 all-time against the five opponents that comprise the Eastern Conference.
