FCD's Ruiz out for MLS All-Stars

FC Dallas striker Carlos Ruiz was absent from Saturday's Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game, failing to appear in Columbus, Ohio, for the event.

FC Dallas and MLS All-Star head coach Colin Clarke said prior to the match that he has spoken with Ruiz since learning he would not be in Columbus. Clarke declined to give details on the conversation and did not say where Ruiz is.

"Personal reasons," Clarke said. "I can't comment any more than that."

With Ruiz ruled out of the starting lineup, Los Angeles Galaxy striker Landon Donovan was moved to the forward line alongside Taylor Twellman. Simo Valakari (FC Dallas) lined up in central midfield next to New England Revolution midfielder Shalrie Joseph, and Chris Albright and Frankie Hejduk served as outside backs.

Ruiz was voted a starter in his first season with FC Dallas. Through 14 games, he scored seven goals and registered two assists.
