DALLAS - FC Dallas downed SMU at Westcott Field by a 4-2 final on Monday evening. The two teams played a full 90-minute match with the FC Dallas lineup listed below.
FC Dallas and forward Roberto Mina wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard during their match. Mina is not officially signed by the team, but was able to play in the scrimmage tonight. The team will look to officially announce the signing sometime in the near future. In the fourth minute, Philip Salyer sent a centering pass to Mina in the box. Mina lost his marker and headed the ball home for a quick 1-0 lead. Following that, neither team scored until the 61st minute when SMU tied the score on a tally by Chase Wileman.
In the 73rd minute, just one minute after entering the match, trialist Peter Louis scored one of his two goals on another assist by Salyer. Salyer made a cross to Louis who blasted the pass into the back of the net for a 2-1 lead. Just 10 minutes later, Louis struck again. This time he made a nice touch shot from just outside the box that bent over the head of the SMU goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Ty Maurin then put the icing on the cake with a tally in the 87th minute of the match. Marc Wilson spotted a wide open Maurin and made a nice feed up to him. Maurin was then all alone with the keeper and beat him to give FC Dallas a 4-1 lead.
Louis is a local Dallas product who attended Coastal Carolina before returning to Texas for a tryout with FC Dallas. At Coastal Carolina in 2004, he tallied three goals and three assists in 23 matches.
SMU scored another goal in the 88th minute to round out the scoring and finish the contest with a 4-2 FC Dallas victory.
FC Dallas will have tomorrow (Tuesday) off and will train at Blue Sky in The Colony on Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. The team will then travel to Los Angeles to take on the Galaxy at 9 p.m. (CST) on Saturday evening. The match will be broadcast on FSN Southwest.
