TRAINING REPORT:
The team completed its first week of training back in Dallas after a two week stay in Spain. For the most part, the fitness part of the preseason is over and the team is now more focused on the tactical part of the game and getting everybody ready to play. Today, as most of the week, the team worked on different ball drills, some finishing on the goal and ended with an inter-squad scrimmage. They also had a fun relay race where the players were split into three teams and they had a soccer drills race. It was just something that the coaches try and do from time to time to not let the training get stale or old for the players.
"The weather has been great and that has helped us to put out some good workouts," said Assistant Coach Bryan Haynes. "It's been a challenge because we've been short on forwards and we haven't been able to do all the work that we would like with our players up front, but other than that I think it was a really good week of work and we hope to finish strong with a solid performance tomorrow."
PLAYER NEWS: The defender that the team is seeking might arrive to Dallas as soon as this weekend. On the other hand, the Ecuadorian player that the team is looking to sign as a discovery player was expected in Dallas this weekend, but problems obtaining his visa will delay his arrival for a couple of weeks.
INJURY REPORT: All the injured players are improving and coming along. Most of them are about a week away from fully joining in.
Eric Quill - Continues rehab on his calf. He should be a week away from getting back on the field.
Cornell Glen - Started jogging and doing some light work. Is day to day with his ankle injury.
Steve Jolley - Is beginning to work back after having knee surgery and should be 10 days away from fully training with team.
Abe Thompson - Is still 3-4 weeks away from coming back after fracturing his cheek bone, but is progressing nicely.
NEXT: Scrimmage vs. University of Southwest Missouri at the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday at 10 a.m. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend the exhibition.
