FC Dallas finishes successful day at SuperDraft

FC Dallas concluded the 2005 MLS SuperDraft at the Baltimore Convention Center on Friday making four selections over four rounds.


During the four rounds, FC Dallas made four picks, and the club used those selections on: Drew Moor of Indiana University (1st round, 6th overall), Winston Marshall of Wright State University (3rd round, 27th overall), Chris Gomez of Brown University (3rd round, 28th overall) and Julian Nash of Creighton University (4th round, 40th overall).
"Overall we're very happy with the four players we drafted today because we picked up some very good prospects for our soccer club," FC Dallas Head Coach Colin Clarke said. "We are very pleased with this draft and look forward to these young players growing in our system over the next few years."

Drew Moor


Defender, 6-0, 170 lbs., Born: Jan. 15, 1984 in Dallas, TX


1st round (6th overall)

Regarded as one of the top defenders in the country, Indiana was 36-7-6 overall with two regular season Big Ten titles, one Big Ten tournament championship, two College Cup appearances and back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2003 and 2004 during Moor's two years at the University. Started every game in which he played (43) as a Hoosier. In 2004, was a NSCAA All-America First-Team, All-Big Ten First Team and a Hermann Trophy Semifinalist.


Has played in 21 matches, including 15 international matches with the U-20 U.S. National Team. Attended the Episcopal School in Dallas.

Winston Marshall


Midfielder, 6-0, 160 lbs., Born: Feb 26, 1983 in Scarborough, Ontario


3rd round (27th overall)

Has played the past four seasons at Wright State University, being honored with All-Horizon League Second Team honors in 2004 and in 2002. Is a member of the Canadian Men's National Team. Chris Gomez


Goalkeeper, 6-2, 190 lbs., Born: Aug. 4, 1983 in Huntington Beach, CA


3rd round (28th overall)

Played the past four seasons with Brown University. In 2004, registered a 1.13 goals-against-average with six shutouts and was named to All-Ivy Second Team. In 2003, was honored with All-Ivy First Team.

Julian Nash


Forward, 6-0, 185 lbs., Born: Mar 1, 1983 in Oakland, CA


4th round (40th overall)

Played the past four seasons at Creighton University. An athletic forward who likes to go at players and is comfortable playing with his back to goal. Was a Hermann Trophy semifinalist in 2004 and was honored with a All-MVC First Team selection. In his senior season, led the team with a career-high nine assists and 21 points.
