D.C. United announced Wednesday the re-launch of the team's official website, dcunited.com, the first of eight MLS team websites to be created through a partnership with Sports on Earth, LLC. Part of the newly created MLSnet.com Internet Network, several improvements to the site, including an impressive multimedia section, will provide fans of the Black-and-Red with an enhanced online experience. Visitors to the new dcunited.com will be able to view live and archived video from United matches as well as listen to live and archived games audio in both English and Spanish.
"The re-launch of dcunited.com is an exciting result of the working relationship between two outstanding organizations," said United vice president of communications Doug Hicks. "The class operation at Sports on Earth will further allow United supporters unprecedented access to their favorite Major League Soccer club."
The site's current content has been streamlined into a new interface, to provide faster page views and increased ease of use. Additionally, dcunited.com will feature more Spanish-language content, as the club continues to broaden its reach within D.C.'s Hispanic population.
"We are delighted to partner with D.C. United and Major League Soccer," said Phil Green, general manager MLSnet.com Internet Network. "Fan reaction to the new MLSnet.com, the official league website, has been overwhelmingly positive. We look forward to taking that to the team level and providing United and all MLS fans with up to the minute news, information and analysis, as well as all of the exciting video and audio highlights from the field."
Sports on Earth will oversee hosting and day-to-day maintenance of dcunited.com. Through a partnership with Major League Soccer and Sports on Earth will provide original editorial content, audio and video highlights, design and technical support, and marketing and sales support to Major League Soccer and eight individual teams as part of the MLSnet.com Internet Network. In addition to MLSnet.com -- re-launched in April -- and dcunited.com, Sports on Earth is redesigning the websites for the Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, Dallas Burn, Kansas City Wizards, Los Angeles Galaxy, MetroStars and San Jose Earthquakes, and will re-launch those sites later in May.
