Convey called up for USA vs. Poland

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United midfielder Bobby Convey was named today to Bruce Arena's 18-man roster as the U.S. men's national team prepares to face Poland on July 11 in Chicago. The match, set for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff, is the final tune-up for the USMNT as they prepare for the semi-final round of FIFA World Cup qualifying. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and will also be available via ussoccer.com's MatchTracker, presented by Philips Electronics.

"We are excited for Bobby for his continued selection to the national team," said Dave Kasper, United technical director. "We wish Bobby and the U.S. the best of luck against Poland."

Convey has played in seven of eight matches for the USMNT in 2004. He currently has 25 caps for the senior side, but he has been a mainstay at all levels. He has competed in three FIFA World Youth Championships, and also led the U-23 national team in scoring during the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament, held earlier this year in Guadalajara, Mexico. He will miss the Black-and-Red's July 10 match against the Kansas City Wizards as a result of the call-up.
