Continental Airlines Friendship Cup rescheduled to June 8

SECAUCUS, N.J. - D'Fabis Productions announced today that the Continental Airlines Friendship Cup, which was slated for Wednesday, March 23, and pitted the MetroStars against Deportivo Cuenca of Ecuador, has been postponed until June 8, 2005 at a time and venue to be determined. The new date of the match corresponds with Continental's June 9 launch of non-stop service between Newark-Liberty International Airport and Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The reason for the cancellation is linked to Deportivo Cuenca's travel complications.

The MetroStars will begin MLS competition on April 2, when they host MLS expansion team Real Salt Lake at Giants Stadium at 7:00 p.m. ET (TV: MSG). The game will mark the return of former Metros Clint Mathis and Eddie Pope to Giants Stadium.

The MetroStars will hold Media Day on Monday, March 21 at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill from Noon-2:00 p.m.

Tickets that have already been issued for the game on March 23 will be valid for the game on June 8.
