The Columbus Metropolitan Club is a civic organization that promotes the open exchange of information and ideas to the residents of central Ohio by providing a forum for the discussion of topics of civic and public interest.

While the world may not think of Columbus as a bastion for soccer, in its 1994 formation, MLS announced Columbus as the first of the 10 inaugural MLS clubs. With more than 11,500 season ticket holders, Columbus launched the Crew, 'America's Hardest Working Team.' Within five years, Lamar Hunt etched Columbus and the Crew's place in American sports history by building Columbus Crew Stadium, the country's first major league stadium built specifically for soccer.

Celebrating 10 years, MLS has established itself as one of the five major professional sports leagues in America while striving to create and sustain soccer that is entertaining and competitive on an international level. Crew Stadium is also hosting the 2005 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game on July 30, when the MLS All-Stars take on Brian McBride and Fulham FC of the English Premier League at 3:30 p.m.
