Chivas USA reserves top Quakes 2-0

SAN JOSE, Calif. - With goals by former Earthquakes player Víctor 'Boomer' Arbeláez (6th minute) and a header by Francisco 'Pancho' Mendoza (35th minute), Chivas USA's reserve team defeated the San Jose Earthquakes reserves 2-0 in the inaugural match of the Major League Soccer reserve division.


The game was played at Spartan Stadium, where earlier in the afternoon more than 11,000 fans watched Chivas USA's first team earn their very first point with a 3-3 draw against Western Conference rival San Jose.


Chivas USA now returns to Los Angeles to play their second home game on Saturday April 16, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. PT versus FC Dallas. The match marks the return to Los Angeles of Guatemalan idol Carlos 'Pescadito' Ruiz, along with the first visit in 2005 of U.S. national team striker Eddie Johnson.
