Chivas USA notch 6-2 win over Fresno Fuego

FRESNO, Calif. (Sunday, March 13, 2005) - Club Deportivo Chivas USA recorded a 6-2 victory last night over PDL side the Fresno Fuego in an exhibition game played in front of a lively pro-Chivas crowd of over 5,000 at McLane High School Soccer Stadium in this Central Valley city.


Arturo Torres (7th minute) and Matt Taylor (39th) opened the scoring for Chivas USA with first-half goals, both right-footed strikes from the top of the 18-yard box. In the second stanza, substitute Víctor López managed two for the Fuego (47th and 85th minutes), but a second tally by Taylor (56th), two by Costa Rican international Douglas Sequeira (65th and 88th) and a 25-yard free-kick 'golazo' by captain Francisco Gómez (72nd) sealed the victory for Thomas Rongen's men.
Chivas USA plays its next preseason scrimmage against fellow MLS expansion side Real Salt Lake this Wednesday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. PT on one of The Home Depot Center's auxiliary fields. For further information, contact the Public Relations Department of Club Deportivo Chivas USA.
