Chivas USA breaks record with 1,200 items donated for Passback Program

Chivas USA has reached new levels in the MLS, breaking a record in the Passback Program, a campaign which collects new and lightly used soccer apparel, donated by fans during the game against the Colorado Rapids last Saturday, assembling 1,200 donated soccer itemsl that will be given to the US Soccer Foundation with the intention of distributing these items to communities of low income through out the country.

"We are committed to our community here in Chivas USA and are grateful for our fans who have supported this campaign and took the time to donate so much gear ", said Whit Haskel, Senior Vice-president and General Manager of Chivas USA.

"We are delighted with the results Chivas have achieved with their Passback collection. All the Major League Soccer teams are partnering with the U.S. Soccer Foundation to help provide new and gently used equipment to help others enjoy the game of soccer. But Chivas has clearly set a new standard for others to try to reach and we congratulate the team and its supporters for this wonderful achievement," said John Koskinen President of the U.S. Soccer Foundation.

The fans who donated jerseys or other type of soccer apparel, received in exchange a ticket for the game between Chivas USA and the Chicago Fire next Saturday, July 2, at The Home Depot Center.

There was also a raffle held for the fans that made donations, were the winner received a soccer ball and Chivas USA poster, signed by the Chivas USA players.

The Pass back Program will continue its campaign through out the MLS season, until next October 16.
