Carlos Ruiz wins Sierra Mist Goal of the Decade

DALLAS - FC Dallas forward Carlos Ruiz was today awarded the Sierra Mist Goal of the Decade for his bicycle kick against D.C. United on May 29, 2005. The strike was one of five finalists from an original list of 30, which fans were able to vote on over the past week. After seven days of voting, Ruiz was declared the winner with 36.1% of the vote. The Guatemalan International also came in second place with a goal from the 2003 season when he was with the Los Angeles Galaxy that garnered 24.4% of the vote. All totaled, Ruiz had three of the 30 Goal of the Decade finalists, and those three strikes accounted for nearly 42% of the more than 150,000 total votes cast in the month-long online competition.
