Busy day for Quakes mascot

'Q' listens along as local musician Ric Alexander plays at KKSF's Earth Day.

Saturday, April 23 began bright and early for Q. He was already off and running at 10:00 a.m. when he visited a fundraiser carnival that benefited Ben Franklin Middle School in Daly City. Q helped cook lunch, participated in a tandem potato sack race, and signed autographs.

Q then made his way back home to San Jose for the afternoon. He rode his customized scooter over to the KKSF Earth Day San Jose celebration at Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Q felt right at home on stage with local jazz musician Ric Alexander.

After his set was over, Q hopped back on his scooter and ventured over to the Discovery Museum's Discovery Meadow to appear at the City of San Jose's 17th annual Children's Faire. Q hung out with kids at the event, signed autographs, and took pictures with families in attendance.

After such a fun-filled but busy day, Q made his last stop at Spartan Stadium that night. He not only got to watch the Earthquakes defeat the Kansas City Wizards 3-2, but he was able to celebrate his first birthday with friends at halftime. Along with his mascot buddies from Pioneer High School, CSU East Bay, and San Jose State, Q exchanged gifts and played musical chairs with three lucky young contestants chosen from the audience at Spartan Stadium. What a day for the Earthquakes mascot extraordinaire.
