Burn 1, Rapids 1 -- quote sheet

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
SATURDAY, JUNE 19, 2004 - DALLAS BURN 1, COLORADO RAPIDS 1

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH TIM HANKINSON

On the result:
"We are still going to need to create more scoring chances, we need to create 20 chances to get two goals. We aren't satisfied with one point tonight, that wasn't our goal to come out of our own home with a draw. So I don't give a damn whether we scored that goal or not."

On looking ahead:
"It was good to see Rey (Martinez) on the field. But next game we lose (Darryl) Powell and (John) Spencer so we have a lot of work to do this week."

COLORADO MIDFIELDER JOEY DIGIAMARINO

On his return to the Rapids:
"I have looked forward to coming back (to Colorado), I had a great time when I was here for the first four years. It was exciting to get back out there and play again, and to just get into the flow with the team. I think that I just need to get the fitness back in me again with the altitude so I can come full strength on the fourth."

COLORADO MIDFIELDER ANTONIO DE LA TORRE

On the result:
"We needed a win at home and we wanted the three points, we knew that this is the team we could have done it with. But their keeper kept two or three out of the net, so they were lucky too. We need to keep working on our finish and hopefully the next game in Columbus we can score."

On creating offense:
"Long balls are my kind of game, a good penetration pass and playing in the middle, I think that I can do more damage to their defense making that penetrating pass. And I think that as my passes keep getting better that will be good for me and for the team."

COLORADO MIDFIELDER ADRIAN CANN

"It feels great out there, I was shocked with the opportunity that I got tonight. I was thinking it was my chance to make an impact and do something."

DALLAS BURN HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE

On the result:
"Towards the end of the game we start to tire. We would have loved to have gotten the three points, we are disappointed that we gave up a goal very quickly after we scored. We had some big saves for us again tonight. He (Jeff Cassar) had a couple of early and late saves for us. He has taken over for Scott and he has been patient and waited for his chance and he is showing what kind of keeper he is, and I am happy for him."

On Kreis' performance:
"Kreis is a great player, and that is why he scores so many goals. He is still getting back to his fitness and he is getting closer to 100 percent."

DALLAS BURN FORWARD JASON KREIS

On the game:
"I think that we have felt pretty positive about the last two weeks and we wanted to roll that over to this week, at the same time we come to an altitude and we know that the game would be difficult for us late on, so we took a little bit more of a defensive posture this week. I think it was a really good game plan we were asking them to break us down which I don't think they were capable of. They were capable of kicking long balls over us and causing us trouble which we found out in the game. I thought we deserved the result we got."

On the goal:
"Oscar Pareja gave me a pretty special pass, it's a pass that a lot of players don't see, and he has a tendency to see a ball like that. It (the pass) put me in a good spot and I looked up and Joe Cannon was rushing out, and I didn't really know why, and that was really the simplest thing to do was chip it over."

On the record:
"I see it as a record that I was going to break at some point and that will be broken very soon after. You will probably have to look deep in the scoring logs 10 years from now to find me in the scoring charts."

On Jeff Cassar:
"The guy (Cassar) has been unbelievable for us the past two weeks, the best guy on the field, and probably the best man in the league for the past two weeks. I hope he gets the recognition that he is due."

DALLAS GOALKEEPER JEFF CASSAR

On the game:
"I give hats off to my teammates out there, it was a battle, we wanted to win the game. But they were coming at us, and I think our game plan was working well we stuck to it, and my hats off to our players. I just feel good right now, I have been getting good coaching from my goalkeeping coaches, and my teammates have been helping me out a lot. We are just helping each other out a lot."
