Burciaga fined by MLS Disciplinary Committee

Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee announced today that Kansas City Wizards defender Jose Burciaga Jr. has been fined an additional $500 for violent conduct on a foul committed against Colorado Rapids defender Matt Crawford at Arrowhead Stadium last Saturday, May 1. The fine is assessed in addition to the automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine that Burciaga received for his send-off in the 44th minute of the match. Burciaga will sit out the Wizards' next regular season match on May 8 against the Chicago Fire.

The incident between Burciaga and Crawford occurred in the 44th minute of last Saturday's 2-0 Kansas City victory over Colorado. In an aerial challenge involving the two players, Burciaga extended his elbow and forearm which struck Crawford's head. The Wizards left back was shown a straight red card on the play by referee Baldomero Toledo, forcing Kansas City to play with 10 men for the duration of the match.
