Behind the badge: RFK return

Beginning Monday, May 3rd, the staff of D.C. United and the team itself will be re-united. The Black-and-Red front office operations are moving to RFK Stadium. United's Chantilly, VA office will close at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 29th, in preparation for the move. A limited crew will be in on Friday, and the offices will open for regular business at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 3rd. The new phone number is (202) 587-5000.

The new address is:
D.C. United
2400 East Capitol Street, SE
Washington, DC 20003

Through the first four games of the 2004 Major League Soccer season, D.C. United has enjoyed a sizable increase in attendance, both home and away. With the opening-day sellout, United's average home attendance is 23,819, compared to 15,040 from the first two games of 2003. The Black-and-Red have also drawn sizable crowds on the road. United's match against the MetroStars was the largest MLS-only crowd at Giants Stadium since April 7, 2001.

Another hot commodity is Freddy Adu's Man of the Match jersey. After each home game, United for D.C. auctions the game-worn, autographed jersey of the player chosen as Man of the Match from the previous game. With just under a day remaining to bid, Adu's jersey - worn against the rival MetroStars - is fetching nearly $1,000. The previous top bid was earned by Marco Etcheverry, whose jersey went for over $500 last year.
