Albright, Lalas sanctioned by MLS

NEW YORK - Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee announced today that Los Angeles Galaxy defender Chris Albright and San Jose Earthquakes President and General Manager Alexi Lalas have been sanctioned.


Albright, who was shown a red card for a late tackle on MetroStars left back Chris Leitch on Sunday, August 8 at Giants Stadium, received a one-game suspension and $250 fine in addition to the automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine imposed for the red card. The Galaxy right back will miss his team's next two League matches against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, August 14 and against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, August 21.


Lalas was fined $500 for public criticism of game officials for comments published in the San Jose Mercury News on Friday, August 6.
