Adu out two to four weeks with MCL sprain

WASHINGTON - Following an MRI on Tuesday, performed at HealthSouth Diagnostic Imaging, it has been confirmed that Freddy Adu suffered a second degree MCL sprain in his right knee. No damage was found to the meniscus. Adu suffered the injury in the first half of United's 3-2 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday and will be out of action for two to four weeks.

"We're encouraged by the news today that Freddy's injury is indeed minor," said Dave Kasper, United Technical Director. "He has already begun the rehabilitation process and we look forward to having him back in uniform in a matter of weeks."

Adu suffered the injury early in the first half of Saturday's game when he attempted to slide between two defenders and collided with the Fire's Samuel Caballero. Though he continued playing, he was taken out of the game in the 35th minute. Adu has seen time in 16 games in 2005 (10 starts) and notched two goals and five assists.
