MLS Futbolito 2005 was a hit in its third city stop of 2005 on Saturday, June 4, at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif., with a participation of 100 teams. The team MACSA were crowned champions of the Premier Division (Adults) of the MLS competition sponsored by Panasonic and RadioShack.
The champions were presented a check for $2,000 and each participant was given a gift (worth over $200) from Makita. The second place winners (adults), PASC, won $1,000 for their efforts.
One hunderd teams participated in the seven divisions. Among the guests present was the MLS Ambassador, Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama, who spent several hours with the numerous fans on hand to witness the competition.
The MLS joins with the league's clubs to bring Futbolito to cities across the entire U.S. The tour continues in the month of July in Dallas, Texas (July 9), Columbus, Ohio (July 16) and Washington D.C. (July 23). The events continue in the months of August and September before wrapping up on Oct. 1 in Los Angeles.
Every player received a free ticket to an MLS game, gifts presented by the sponsors RadioShack and Panasonic and an exclusive jersey from the event. The teams registered for the competition will be divided based on age and ability.
