HOW ACQUIRED: Zimmerman was selected by FC Dallas in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft on Jan. 17, 2013.

A large, mobile center back who's prrovided FCD with important minutes along the back line since joining the club as a member of the 2013 Generation adidas class, Zimmerman etched his name in club lore in the 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs when he coolly netted the series-winning penalty kick in the PK shootout that decided Dallas' Western Conference semifinal clash with the Seattle Sounders.

INTERNATIONAL: Received his first senior international cap for the US in a 1-0 friendly win over Jamaica on Feb. 3, 2017. Captained US Under-18 national team at the 2011 Milk Cup and named US U-18 Team MVP at Tel Aviv, Israel Tournament. Was in the mix with US Under-20s for 2013 CONCACAF Under-20 Championships before suffering a groin injury.

COLLEGE: A star defender in his two seasons at Furman University, where he won All-Southern Conference first-team honors in both years and scored 11 goals and 5 assists.

NOTES: Brother Dawson was a punter at Clemson University; their father, David Zimmerman, was a Baptist minister for 21 years in Fort Worth, Texas. Walker has a cat named Domino and a rabbit named Duper.
