Shea Salinas

How he joined the club: Originally selected in the second round (No. 15 overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the Earthquakes. After one season in San Jose, he was taken by the Philadelphia Union in the 2009 MLS Expansion Draft. He returned to San Jose on Nov. 30, 2011 in a trade that sent allocation money to Vancouver Whitecaps FC in exchange for Salinas.

2020 (San Jose Earthquakes): Made four starts in 23 appearances, earning the club’s Media Good Guy Award … Tallied two goals and two assists in MLS play … Tallied his second assist of the season against LAFC on Nov. 4, becoming the club’s all-time assists leader (48) … MLS is Back: Made five appearances and scored one goal during the MLS is Back Tournament … MLS Cup Playoffs: Started and played 87 minutes, scored his first MLS postseason goal in a loss against Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park on Nov. 22 in the Knockout Round.

2019 (San Jose Earthquakes): Made 12 starts in 28 MLS appearances ... Set new single-season career high with six goals and added three assists... Registered first multi-goal match with brace against Seattle Sounders FC on April 24 ... Earned MLS Team of the Week honors for Week 9 ... 2015 (San Jose Earthquakes): MLS: Set career highs in appearances (34) and minutes (2,621), while making 29 starts … Played the most minutes of any Quakes midfielder … Scored a career best three goals and added five assists … Notched his first goal of the year in a 2-0 win vs. Columbus Crew SC on May 16 … Tallied two assists in a 5-0 win at Sporting Kansas City on Aug. 19 … Scored in back-to-back games at D.C. United (2-0 W) on Aug. 22 and vs. the LA Galaxy (1-0 W) on Aug. 28 ... Made his 200th career MLS appearance and recorded a game-winning assist in a 1-0 win vs. Sporting Kansas City on Oct. 16 … U.S. Open Cup: Did not play vs. Sacramento Republic FC on June 16 … Did not play vs. the LA Galaxy on July 1 … ICC: Did not play vs. Club America on July 14 … Started, played 45 minutes and recorded an assist vs. Manchester United on July 21.

2014 (San Jose Earthquakes): Finished the season with one goal and eight assists in 31 appearances … Made 30 starts on the season, the most in his seven-year career … Made his 100th career MLS start in the club’s 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids on Sept. 27 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park … CCL: Had game-tying assist in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage against Deportivo Toluca FC at Buck Shaw Stadium on March 11 … Had an assist and played 120 minutes against Deportivo Toluca FC at Nemesio Diez Stadium on March 19 … Open Cup: Did not play against Sacramento Republic FC at Kezar Stadium on June 11 and against Seattle Sounders FC at Starfire Sports Complex on June 24.  

2013 (San Jose Earthquakes): Set career highs in appearances (28), starts (24), assists (8) and tied his career best for goals (2) ... Had a goal and two assists in San Jose's dramatic comeback win against the LA Galaxy in front of 50,028 fans at Stanford Stadium on June 29 ... Made his 50th career start with the Earthquakes in a 2-1 win against FC Dallas on Oct. 26 at Buck Shaw Stadium ... CCL: Was on the bench, but did not play in the club's second CCL match of group play against CD Heredia (Gautemala) at Cemento Progreso Stadium on Aug. 24 ... Premier Development League: 2007: As a member of Carolina Dynamo, Salinas was the club’s Most Valuable Player and named to the PDL’s All-Southern Conference Team after scoring seven goals and recording five assists in 13 appearances that year … In two Southern Conference Southeast Division match-ups, the winger scored two goals and recorded one assist … 2006: In his second season with the Tornados, scored one goal and notched one assist … 2005: Played the first of three PDL seasons with Dallas-Fort Worth Tornados … In nine appearances in the PDL’s Southern Conference Mid South Division, scored two goals.

College (Furman) 2007: As a senior, named to the NSCAA All-American Third Team, NSCAA Scholar All-American First Team, and NSCAA All-South Region First Team after registering a career-high five goals and nine assists for Furman University that season … Efforts also earned him a place on the All-Southern Conference First Team … 2006: Named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region Third Team and the All-Southern Conference First Team after registering three goals and seven assists during his junior year … 2005: As a sophomore, registered four goals and four assists in 18 appearances for the Paladins … 2004: As a freshman, scored two goals and notched one assist, with his first collegiate goal versus Gardner-Webb University on 9/19.
