Nico Nissl

College (Cornell): As a Senior (2012)
One of Cornell’s captains, Nissl moved to the central midfield as a senior and had the best scoring season of his career. With eight total assists, Nissl distributed the ball expertly and helped everyone else score. He also earned a goal of his own against Colgate on Oct. 9. Nissl was named to the All-Ivy Second Team by the league’s coaches to conclude a fanastic career with the Big Red.

As a Junior (2011)
Nissl kept up his enthusiastic brand of soccer, playing on the midfield wings at the start and end of the year after going through an injury in the middle. By season's end, he had racked up starts in five games, played in nine, took 14 shots and two corner kicks. He played nearly 600 minutes and took part in six consecutive games to end the year.

As a Sophomore (2010)
Nissl continued to develop as a strong presence on the flanks for the Big Red. He appeared in 14 games, earning five starts, and picked up the lone goal in the team's 1-1 draw against Syracuse on Sept. 22. Nissl made his first start of the season after that contest against the Orange, sparking a run of five straight appearances in the starting 11.

As a Freshman (2009)
Nissl was a key contributor for the Big Red as a freshman, appearing in all 17 matches and earning the starting nod 14 times. Nissl provided pace and skill on the wing for the Big Red as it began employing head coach Jaro Zawislan's high-pressure defensive system. Nissl provided more than just intensity on the wing, however, as the freshman scored a goal and added an assist for three points on the year. He made his first career start in the season's second game on Sept. 7 against Hartwick, and picked up his first career point with a goal in the loss to nationally ranked Monmouth on Sept. 18, one of only 10 goals surrendered on the season by one of the nation's stingiest defenses. He then picked up an assist in the 4-3 loss to Yale on Oct. 17.

Club: Nissl played club soccer with several clubs in Shanghai, earning most valuable player honors with the Shanghai Bulls in 2008 and scoring 16 goals to lead the Shanghai International Football Men's League in scoring. He was also the youngest player to score a goal in that league when he did so at the age of 13.

High School: Shanghai American School (Shanghai, China). Nissl was a four-time all-league selection and helped his team to the Asia Pacific Athletics Conference championship in 2009. He won four Shanghai Cup championships and two China Cup championships while serving as team captain for three seasons and was the team's most valuable player as a junior.

Personal: Nico Nissl is the son of Stefan Nissl and Emy Rusiati and has a younger sister. He is enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration ... Nissl attended the AC Milan Academy Camp three years and was named the best player of the camp in 2003, being selected to play in the famed San Siro Stadium in Milan. He was also a highly decorated rugby player.
