2002-11: Steele began his career with English side Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2002. He played for the Syracuse Salt Dogs in 2004, Rochester Raging Rhinos in 2005-06, and Irish club Ballymena United in 2005. In 2007, Steele was a member of the Carolina Railhawks of the USL First Division, a side he helped lead to the league’s regular season title. In 2008-09, Steele was a standout for the Puerto Rico Islanders, earning USL-1 MVP honors and helping his club with the league championship. In that span, Steele scored six goals in 49 matches. In 2010, Steele played for the Vancouver Whitecaps (then a USL side), before returning to the Railhawks on loan in 2011.
