Career Summary

Chivas USA acquired midfielder Gabriel Farfan on May 14, 2013 in a trade with Eastern Conference side the Philadelphia Union. A versatile footballer who can also play as a defender, Farfan spent nearly three seasons playing alongside his twin brother Michael in Philadelphia before returning to his Southern California roots.

Farfan assumed a starting role soon after joining the Red-and-White, as he appeared in 14 matches, 10 as a starter. As a member of the Union, Farfan played in 51 games (43 starts) in a span of two-plus seasons.

Prior to joining MLS, the San Diego native played collegiately at Cal State Fullerton from 2006-07, where he appeared in 16 games (15 starts), notched one goal, added two assists and earned Second Team All-Big West honors. He then moved on to compete in Mexico by joining the camps of a number of First-Division clubs.

At the international level, Farfan served a two-year residency with the U.S. U-17 National Team in Bradenton, Fla. and played in the 2000 World Youth Championships in Japan.
