Schellas Hyndman vows to "give some other players a chance" after another tough FC Dallas loss

FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman didn’t mince words after his squad’s disappointing 3-0 loss to Real Salt Lake, their seventh straight match without a win.

“I think it’s time to make some changes,” Hyndman told reporters. “We’ve been going long enough with people’s play from the previous year, now we need to give some other players a chance.

“You look at the margin and difference in score, it wasn’t a 1-0 game, it wasn’t a referee making a mistake, it was that we gave up soft goals and we didn’t score our chances.”

In what has been a recent pattern for the team, Dallas dominated play early in the match and created numerous scoring opportunities, but were unable to put away any of their opportunities. On Saturday the home side took 19 shots, six of them on target, hit 15 crosses and won the possession battle with 466 total passes, but came away empty-handed.

FCD's misfiring forwards drew much of Hyndman’s ire for not capitalizing on their chances.

OPTA Chalkboard: Poor finishing cancels out all of FCD's hard work

“If you look at our last two games at home, the Chivas [USA] game [a 0-0 draw on July 4] we had a great start, didn’t finish. You look at tonight’s game, we had a great start, didn’t finish,” Hyndman explained. “[We need] better training at creating scoring chances, and we’ve just got to finish.

“Players have their roles on the team. If you’re a goalkeeper, everybody understands their role – keep the ball out of the goal. If you’re an attacking player, everybody understands your role – finish the goal.”
