InterLiga 2010 'Road to Copa Libertadores'

1. Alfonso Blanco is the latest addition to Club America's roster

Last week, many Mexican teams participating in InterLiga added new players to their rosters. Club America has officially presented Alfonso Blanco and may debut in InterLiga 2010. Club America recently added two other players to their roster last week, Miguel Layun and Alonso Sandoval, who have been training with the team. Blanco talked about his new team in an interview with ESTO, "I am very happy, I am here to help, I know that America is a big team, I know I have to be patient and will wait for my opportunity. For the moment I have to work hard so I can earn a spot." Club America will kick off their participation against Santos Laguna on Saturday, Jan. 2 at Robertson Stadium in Houston, Texas.

2. Felipe Baloy heads to Santos Laguna, Sergio Amaury Ponce to Tigres UANL

Santos Laguna had a new addition in Felipe Baloy, ex forward of the current Mexican League Champions, Monterrey. The 28 year-old captain of the Panamanian National Team is now with the team, which will participate in two prep matches today and tomorrow as a final wrap up of preseason before heading to InterLiga. Tigres UANL is not far behind; they too added Sergio Amaury Ponce to their roster last week to their team. Daniel Guzman, head coach for Tigres UANL said the following on the team's official site, "he is a player that has won championships with other teams, it's not the same to have players who have won championships on a team to players who have never won one before. Personally I am very excited to have that type of player, that come with a personal challenge and brings professional experience." The head coach also added this about Ponce: "(Amaury) will bring a lot to the team because we have InterLiga, and we are also dreaming with the possibility to play in Copa Libertadores".

3. InterLiga is a priority for Federico Vilar, Jose Guadalupe Cruz and Atlante

In an interview, Federico Vilar, goalkeeper for Atlante, spoke about InterLiga and the possibility of earning a spot in Copa Libertadores. 4. InterLiga 2010 kicks off this weekend in Houston and Dallas

In its seventh edition, InterLiga determines two berths for Mexican clubs to the prestigious Copa Libertadores. The tournament will kick off this weekend, Saturday, Jan. 2 at Robertson Stadium in Houston with Group A play and Sunday, Jan. 3 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco with Group B play.

Saturday, Jan. 2 - Robertson Stadium, Houston, TX
Game 1 - Group A -Atlante vs. Estudiantes Tecos - 6:30 p.m. ET
Game 2 - Group A -America vs. Santos - 9:00 p.m. ET

Sunday, Jan. 3 - Pizza Hut Park, Frisco, TX
Game 3 - Group B -Puebla vs. Tigres - 3:00 p.m. ET
Game 4 - Group B -Monterrey vs. Jaguares - 5:30 p.m. ET

5. Tickets for InterLiga 2010 tournament continue on sale

Tickets for InterLiga are on sale via , by calling 1-800-745-3000, and other regular ticket outlets in each of the participating cities. Tickets are also available by contacting each of the local Major League Soccer teams in the three markets: FC Dallas (1-888-FCD-GOAL), Houston Dynamo (713-276-7500), Chivas USA (1-877-CHIVAS-1) and LA Galaxy (1-877-3GALAXY). The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol encourages its fans to use their Visa cards.
