CHICAGO, IL - The Chicago Fire is participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area over the next week. Throughout the year, the Chicago Fire participates in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.
This week's events range from an autograph session with Chicago Fire Defender Wilman Conde, a check presentation for the Leukemia &Lymphoma Society, and a visit to Arlington Park Race Track with Fire mascot, Sparky.
St. Thomas the Apostle Picnic

Where: St Thomas the Apostle, 1500 Brookdale, Naperville
What: Join Sparky at the 25th Anniversary picnic for St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Naperville. There will be food, fun and games. Plus, take a shot or play goalie in the Chicago Fire penalty kick inflatable.
Soccer Kicks for Cancer Check Presentation for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (L&LS)
Who: Kicks for Cancer Participant, Gabrielle Barkidija, and Chicago Fire Foundation representative
When: Saturday, September 26; Pre-game
Where: TOYOTA PARK, 7000 S. Harlem, Bridgeview
What: The Chicago Fire Foundation will be presenting a check for over $13,000 to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on behalf of the Oak Park Strikers Soccer Club for their participation in the L&LS Kicks for Cancer Program. Participants were asked to raise funds for research and patient programs by getting donations for the number of "touches" they made on a soccer ball over a ten day period. All proceeds were then matched $.25 on the dollar by the Chicago Fire Foundation.

What: Chicago Fire Defender, Wilman Conde, will be taking photos and signing autographs this Sunday at the Illinois State Soccer's Copa Hardiebacker annual 4V4 tournament.
HORSEPOWER! at Arlington Park Race Track
Who: Fire Mascot Sparky
When: Sunday, September 27; 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Where: Arlington Park, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights
What: Join Sparky and the Chicago Fire for an action packed day of thoroughbred horse racing plus view some of the fastest examples of HORSEPOWER... on the track and under the hood. Make your way through the Chicago Fire obstacle course and test your luck on the prize wheel.
