FEELING BLAS: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Noted Colombian journalist Diego Rueda has tweeted that Blas Pérez – a foe US fans know all too well – "will play in MLS." The Panamanian national team striker and journeyman of the Colombian and Mexican leagues is looking for a new address after his current team, Indios de Ciudad Juárez, announced they'll be dissolving due to financial problems. FIRE CHASING GREEK STRIKER: Financial problems at Greek club PAOK mean they've got to move some of their bigger-name players. That leaves an opening for MLS, and it seems the Chicago Fire are targeting striker Dimitris Salpigidis. SERENGETI STRIKER: Tanzanian international and Azam FC striker Mrisho Ngassa may yet get his move to Seattle, according to reports in Africa. LEKIC OR NOT: Just when it seemed as though Rajko Lekic had started to settle in at New England, he might actually be on his way out. "MAJOR INTEREST" IN GONZO: Less than a week after a reporter claimed that Club America in Mexico were interested in signing Omar Gonzalez, SkySports.com says "there is major interest from the Premier League in the 23-year-old." RESTREPO GETTING OFFERS: America de Cali goalkeeper Diego Restrepo says that he already has received a bid for his services from rival side Millonarios. "I got a couple offers from other clubs. HERC-Y JERKY: According to Reforma reporter Gabriel Tamayo, Herculez Gomez is moving from Tecos to Mexican league finalist Santos Laguna. BERHALTER HEADING TO SWEDEN?: Reports out of Sweden claim that Gregg Berhalter will be named head coach of Swedish club Hammarby. GUZAN NOT GOING ANYWHERE: Ahead of his first start of the season for Aston Villa in place of the injured Shay Given, manager Alex McLeish says he has big plans for American goalkeeper Brad Guzan: "Brad did hint that possibly he was looking to go elsewhere and play first team football but, even before Shay got injured, we told him we needed him and we valued him ... EVERTON NOT HOLDING THEIR BREATH FOR LD: The LA Galaxy's Landon Donovan has said that he will wait to see how he feels before deciding on whether he will entertaing playing on loan during the MLS offseason. But Everton captain Phil Neville is not counting on Donovan making a return to Goodison Park: "Everyone loved Landon. We enjoyed having him here, and he used Everton running up to the World Cup to stay fit. I think that was the only reason he came, or maybe he would have come the year after." LEBANON WOOS SKC PHENOM: Sporting Kansas City teenager Soony Saad confirmed that he has received an invitation from the Lebanese Football Federation to participate in training ahead of World Cup qualification. MILKING A RUMOR: The Columbus Dispatch shoots down a rumor that "Simply Pure Milk" is about to be named a jersey sponsor for the club. HOMEGROWN HINTS: Speculation in Philadelphia is that Christian Hernandez is close to signing with the Union. A report cites a tweet by player representative Michael Wheeler as a strong hint that Hernandez, who is ranked as a Top 10 high school recruit by ESPN, could become the Union's second homegrown signing. BY GEORGE: The representative of FC Dallas central defender George John confirmed to Goal.com that there is continued international interest in the player, specifically from Greece and England, but that a move this winter is not expected. Ted Philipakos says that he expects another overseas bid to be made for his client this summer. In the meantime, he stated that talks will begin with FC Dallas about a potential contract extension as well: "I believe we'll be talking more this month." (Goal.com - Dec. 7, 2011)




GALAXY TARGET HOLDING BACK: With a final still to be played for Alajuelense in Costa Rica, midfielder Marcelo Fazzio Sarvas does not want to pronounce his decision on where he will play in 2012 although his agent has confirmed it will be with the MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy. According to a report, he will get a significant pay raise in MLS: "I haven't signed but there is something ... A player looks for stability. EX-POMPEY AND SAINTS MIDFIELDER TO MLS?: 33-year-old Colombian international midfielder Jhon Eduis Viáfara, who has also played in England and Spain, is out of contract after playing with Deportivo Pereira and says he's analyzing offers from Colombian side Deportivo Cali, La Equidad, from Peru and from MLS. "I haven't decided anything. I have to speak with my family to take the best decision ... On the 15th I go on vacation and around this date I hope to have arrived at an arrangement." IS THE PRICE RIGHT FOR RAJKO?: Revolution forward Rajko Lekic, whose option was recently declined by the club, tells Danish media that he has received a new contract offer from New England to return in 2012. ONE LAST SPOT ON THE CAROUSEL: ESPN.com revealed the names of candidates interviewed thus far for the vacant head coaching position in Colorado: ex-Rapid Denis Hamlett, USA Under-18 manager Richie Williams and former LA Galaxy manager Steve Sampson. The latter said taking the Rapids gig was "not in the cards." The same report indicated that the team was hoping to hire the replacement for Gary Smith by Christmas. (ESPN.com - Dec. 6, 2011)




MORE MORA UPDATES: Costa Rican international Heiner Mora confirms to daily Al Dia that there are advanced conversations with the Seattle Sounders: "It's a good offer. They've spoken to me. MLS OPTIONS STILL OPEN FOR GUTI: The ex-Real Madrid star, Guti, has not closed the door entirely to a chance to play in MLS. He mentions three specific destinations during a radio interview in Spain: "First, I would like to play in China. Another option would be some Arab team, specifically in Qatar, and also I am contemplating going to the United States." Guti recently terminated his contract with Besiktas after falling out of favor with the manager. But he makes it clear he wants a new cultural experience to end his professional career. ARTURO HEADING SOUTH OF THE BORDER?: There is talk that Salvadoran international Arturo Alvarez is seeking a move to Mexico even after getting picked by Chivas USA in Stage 1 of the Re-Entry Draft on Monday. "I think there is a possibility that Arturo has had an eye for leaving the league for a long time," Chivas manager Robin Fraser said. "The word on him is that he's always wanting to go overseas. PAYING HIS DUES:Herculez Gomez cleared up the confusion surrounding his absence from Tecos training on Monday, saying that he made a trip to Mexico City to pay taxes as required by the US government.
