Charlotte FC hinted at their next player signing in a unique way.

The MLS expansion club temporarily changed their Twitter handle to “So we’ll have some player news this week,” and added a hint by revealing the player’s heritage in their bio (Polish).

That player appears to be Jan Sobocinski, a 21-year-old left-footed center back from LKS Lodz in second division 1 Liga in Poland.

Sobocinski came up through his hometown Lodz and had a short loan stint with Gryf Wejherowo in 2018 before returning to Lodz. He’s made 75 appearances across all competitions for LKS Lodz, scoring five goals. This season, Sobocinski has made 14 league appearances, all starts for LKS Lodz, third in the 1 Liga table.

Sobocinski has worked his way up through the Poland youth national teams and has made six appearances for the U-21s, all but one coming from the UEFA European U-21 qualifiers in 2019.

Charlotte FC have signed three players ahead of their first season in 2022 — Sergio Ruiz, Riley McGree and Brandt Bronico.
