Portugal shuts out visiting South Africa

Portugal claimed a comfortable victory over 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa in a friendly in Lausanne.

Bruno Alves opened the scoring after just four minutes with a header before Edinho came close to doubling the lead.

Carlos Queiroz's side then sealed victory after 56 minutes when Edinho put Lucas Twala under pressure in the area and the South African turned the ball into his own net.

Cristiano Ronaldo replaced Manchester United teammate Nani a minute later but Portugal could not add to their two goals.
