KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 0, CHICAGO FIRE 0
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH CURT ONALFO
On second-half adjustments his team made:
"I thought we came out very, very well in the 2nd half. We talked about how we needed to possess the ball better and I thought we responded very well to that. We just lacked the finishing touch, and that's frustrating."
On Josh Wolff playing 84 minutes:
"I thought it was good for him to get as many minutes as he did. That's only going to help his sharpness. I thought his runs were good and I thought he did a lot of good things. This is another step in getting him 90-minute game-fit, which he isn't quite yet."
On slowing down Cuauhtemoc Blanco:
"We talked a lot about limiting Blanco's influence on the game, and from that standpoint I think we executed our game plan very well. We thought that would put us in a great position to win, and it did, but unfortunately we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net and take advantage of this opportunity at home in front of a great sellout crowd."
On former open tryout participant Nelson Pizarro's MLS debut:
"I thought he did well. Nelson's a guy that's been taking advantage of his opportunities with the reserve team. I thought he stepped in and didn't look nervous. I thought he played well and is continuing to progress."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS GOALKEEPER KEVIN HARTMAN
On being tied for the league lead with seven shutouts:
"I think it's really a culmination of a lot of things. I put in a ton of work in the offseason. I think we've been very, very solid defensively. We did a good job getting to the conference championship last year but I want to do better than that, I want to win championships. To do that I've got to do whatever I can to not give up goals."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS MIDFIELDER NELSON PIZARRO
On making his MLS debut after making the team through an open tryout:
"It's a dream come true. It was very enjoyable, but I wish we would have won the game. It was a long journey and I just appreciate everyone like Peter (Vermes) and Coach Onalfo that gave me the opportunity to get here."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS DEFENDER JIMMY CONRAD
On the strong performance this season by the defense:
"It's something we've worked on and we've talked about since the preseason and clearly it's working. Now it's just a matter of getting a few in the back of the net and getting confident. We got a point at home which still moves us towards where we want to go."
CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DENIS HAMLETT
On the game:
"When our reserves came in we gained a little bit of momentum and created some very good looks. We just couldn't quite get one in the goal tonight."
On his team's defense:
"I think our back five has been solid all season long. I think these guys trust each other and they're all on the same page. I'm very proud of that group."
CHICAGO FIRE GOALKEEPER JON BUSCH
On his league-leading seventh shutout of the season:
"It was another team shutout. I can't say enough good things about my back line. They (the Wizards) are very dangerous up top with Wolff and Lopez and I thought our boys in the back did a very good job tonight."
CHICAGO FIRE MIDFIELDER DIEGO GUTIERREZ
On the atmosphere at CommunityAmerica Ballpark:
"It was real nice. We heard that it was going to be a packed house. It was pleasing to play in front of a good crowd. Unfortunately we didn't score any goals tonight."
