Dynamo sign Guy-Roland Kpene

The Houston Dynamo have signed forward Guy-Roland Kpene to a developmental contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Kpene played last season with D.C. United, starting in eight league games and appearing in 15 regular season contests, notching two assists. Born in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Kpene moved to the United States with his family in 2003. He helped Dowling College, on Long Island, to the 2006 NCAA Division II national championship.

Kpene practiced with the Dynamo in mid-April and played in the team's April 20 reserve game as a guest player. He will wear No. 99 for the Dynamo and will be available for selection for Saturday's game against the Colorado Rapids. Kpene will occupy an international roster slot.

The Dynamo host the Rapids at 7:30 p.m. at Robertson Stadium on Saturday before playing road games at Chicago, Dallas and San Jose.
