World Cup: Uruguay hang Luis Suarez's jersey in locker for Colombia clash

Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez might be banned from all soccer stadiums, but his jersey isn't.

Suarez was handed a 9-game international suspension plus a 4-month suspension from all soccer related activities -- including attending matches -- for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. The Liverpool forward has since returned to Montevideo.

But his Uruguayan teammates, who take on Colombia in the Round of 16 on Saturday (4 pm ET, ABC, Univision, CBC), hung his #9 jersey in a locker at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Meanwhile, news has emerged of Suarez's letter to FIFA's disciplinary panel, in which he defended and attempted to explain his actions.

"In no way it happened how you have described, as a bite or intent to bite," Suarez wrote in the June 25 letter. "After the impact ... I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent. At that moment I hit my face against the player, leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth."
