World Cup 2014

World Cup: Which continent's teams are besting the others in Brazil?

You've seen it play out on your TV screens, but is this World Cup truly CONCACAF's coming-out party? Mexico, USA, and Costa Rica made it through to the round of 16, the first time three CONCACAF teams made it as far.

For most of the tournament, CONCACAF was garnering the second most points per game, only behind CONMEBOL. After losses by USA and Honduras to UEFA opponents, that is no longer the case. UEFA was able to sneak above CONCACAF and take the second spot as the group stage ended:

CONFEDERATION PPG
CONCACAF 1.6
CONMEBOL 2.2
UEFA 1.6
AFC .3
CAF .9
