World Cup: Cristiano Ronaldo departs Portugal training session early; Ghana pair also miss training
Ronaldo, who has battled knee tendinitis and thigh problems in recent weeks, reportedly went through physical exercises with the team for about 15 to 20 minutes in Campinas, Brazil, where Portugal are preparing for their tournament opener Monday against Germany at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
Ronaldo did stretching on the side before going to sit on the bench and then departed the field with an ice pack over his left knee.
In other Group G news, Ghana forwards Abdul Majeed Waris and Kevin-Prince Boateng were absent at the Black Stars’ first training session in Maceio on Thursday afternoon ahead of their opener Monday against the US.
Waris injured his left thigh during last week’s final warm-up against South Korea and reportedly needs 10 days to return to training. Boateng also picked up a knock in the same friendly.
