Real Madrid name Ronaldo, Kaká to powerful WFC squad

The stars will descend upon America when Spanish power Real Madrid come stateside to participate in this summer’s World Football Challenge.

On Thursday, the 2010-11 La Liga runners-up and Champions League semifinalists unveiled a loaded roster highlighted by La Liga top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, Spanish national-teamers Iker Casillas, Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos, defensive stalwarts Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe, as well as former Golden Ball and World Player of the Year winner Kaká.

Los Merengues will partake in three matches during this summer’s showcase. They first take on the LA Galaxy at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 16, followed by a tilt against Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara four days later at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

José Mourinho and his men will conclude their participation in the 2011 World Football Challenge with a match against the Philadelphia Union at Lincoln Financial Field on July 23.
