WFC: Chelsea confirm new stars set to make trip to USA
The 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge will serve as the debut for the three newest stars to join European champions Chelsea.
The English club's official web site revealed that the Blues' three most notable additions of the transfer window are "due to fly to the United States on Saturday" to begin preparations for a busy WFC schedule as well as the AT&T MLS All-Star Game on July 25.
Awaiting Roberto Di Matteo's side are matches at Seattle Sounders (July 18), against Paris Saint-Germain at Yankee Stadium (July 22) and in Miami against AC Milan (July 28).
Chelsea boosted their front line with the permanent addition of skillful forward Kevin De Bruyne and the acquisitions of electric winger Eden Hazard and refined midfielder Marko Marin.
Also, England national team defender Gary Cahill, who was forced to drop out of England's Euro 2012 squad after suffering a broken jaw, also confirmed that he is fully recovered. He told Chelsea TV that "the injury is behind me now," after having metal plates removed just last week.
Cahill's transfer from Bolton Wanderers last year opened the door for New York Red Bulls American defender Tim Ream to make the move to the English Premier League. Cahill then went on to figure prominently in the victorious UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich in the absence of John Terry.
